Every academy on REMMU gets a URL that members use to log in and access the portal. You can use a REMMU subdomain (free, instant), connect a custom domain you already own, or register a brand-new domain through REMMU (both paid add-on).

Everything on this page lives under **Settings → Domain**.

## 🔗 Subdomain (Default)

Every academy gets a free subdomain under `remmu.com` — this is the URL you share with members:

```

### Setting Up Your Subdomain

Go to **Settings → Domain → Subdomain**.

1. Enter your preferred subdomain prefix (e.g. `yogahouse`)
2. REMMU checks availability in real time
3. Click **Save** — it's live immediately

**Rules:**

- Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
- 3 to 63 characters
- Must be unique across all REMMU academies

**Note:** No DNS setup needed — your subdomain works the moment you save it.

### Changing Your Subdomain

You can update your subdomain at any time from the same settings page. The old subdomain stops working immediately, so share the new URL with your members after changing.

## 🔗 Custom Domain (Paid Add-on)

Connect your own domain so members access the portal at your branded URL — e.g. `portal.yogahouse.com` or `members.myacademy.com`.

This feature requires the **Custom Domain add-on**, available on Elite plan or as a purchasable add-on.

### Step 1: Add Your Domain in REMMU

Go to **Settings → Domain → Custom Domains** and enter your domain.

Enter your domain (e.g. `portal.yogahouse.com`) and click **Add**.

### Step 2: Set Up Your DNS

Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap, etc.) and add the record that matches your domain type:

**Subdomain** (e.g. `portal.yogahouse.com`) → add a **CNAME record**:

| Field             | Value                                      |

| Name / Host       | `portal` (or whatever subdomain you chose) |
| Value / Points to | `app.remmu.com`                            |
| TTL               | Auto or 3600                               |

**Example:** If your domain is `portal.yogahouse.com`, set the CNAME host to `portal` pointing to `app.remmu.com`.

**Root domain** (e.g. `yogahouse.com`, with no subdomain prefix) → add an **A record** instead, since a root domain can't use a CNAME:

**Note:** DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate globally.

### Step 3: Verify the Domain

Back in REMMU, click **Verify** next to your custom domain. REMMU checks that your DNS is correctly configured. Once verified, the domain goes live.

### Step 4: Set as Primary (Optional)

If you have both a subdomain and a custom domain, you can set one as **Primary**. The primary domain is the one shown in links and emails sent to members.

Click **Set Primary** next to the domain (or **Set as Primary** on the subdomain row).

Only one domain can be primary at a time.

## 🌐 Register a Domain through REMMU

Don't own a domain yet? Search for one and buy it straight from REMMU. REMMU registers it, connects it to your academy, and handles all the DNS — no registrar account or record setup needed.

**Settings → Domain → Register a Domain**

1. Type the name you want (e.g. `myacademy`) and click search
2. REMMU shows each available extension with its **yearly price** — a **Promo** badge marks discounted first-year pricing
3. Click **Select** on the domain you want
4. Fill in the **registrant details** (name, email, address, phone) — these are required by domain registry policy
5. Click **Proceed to Payment** and pay online
6. REMMU registers the domain and connects it automatically — track progress under **Domain Purchases**

Registering a domain needs the **Custom Domain add-on** or the **Elite plan**. Any academy can search and see prices — the **Select** button unlocks once you have the add-on. You can have one custom domain at a time, so remove an existing custom domain before registering a new one.

### Malaysian domains (.my and .com.my)

MYNIC requires extra registrant details:

| Extension | Extra field required                                                                                    |
| --------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `.my`     | **IC Number** of the registrant                                                                         |
| `.com.my` | **Business Registration Number** (pre-filled from your academy's registration number if you've set one) |

### Premium domains

Some short or popular names are sold by the registry as **premium domains** at an individual price. These show **Premium domain — priced individually** with a **Contact Us** button instead of **Select**. REMMU support will prepare a quote for you.

When a quote is ready, you'll get an email and a **Domain Order Ready** card appears at the top of **Settings → Domain**. Open it to review the price, fill in the registrant details, and pay.

### Domain Purchases

The **Domain Purchases** list shows every domain bought through REMMU:

| **Registering...**          | Paid — REMMU is registering the domain                                      |
| **Connecting...**           | Registered — REMMU is connecting it to your site                            |
| **Active · renews \[date]** | Live and working                                                            |
| **Expires in X days**       | Renewal is due — click **Renew Now**                                        |
| **Failed**                  | Something went wrong while connecting — click **Retry**                     |
| **Expired**                 | Not renewed in time — contact support to check whether it's still available |

### Renewing

Domains are billed **yearly**. From 30 days before expiry, the domain shows **Expires in X days** with a **Renew Now** button — click it to pay for the next year. You'll also get a renewal reminder email.

If a domain isn't renewed before it expires, your site stops working at that address and the name may be taken by someone else.
:::

### Choosing root domain or subdomain

A domain registered through REMMU can serve your site at the **root** (`myacademy.com`) or at a **subdomain** (`portal.myacademy.com`). Under **Serving your site at**, pick **Root domain** or **Subdomain**, type the subdomain if needed, and click **Apply**. REMMU updates the DNS for you.

Until the domain is set as primary, your site stays live at your `*.remmu.com` subdomain.

### DNS Records

For domains registered through REMMU, a **DNS Records** card lets you add your own records — for example **MX** and **TXT** records to set up Google Workspace email on your domain.

1. Click **Add Record**
2. Choose the **Type** (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, CAA, NS)
3. Enter the **Name** (e.g. `mail`, or leave blank for the root) and **Value**
4. For MX records, set a **Priority**; optionally set a **TTL**

A newly registered domain can take from a few minutes to 48 hours to start resolving. You'll see **Waiting for DNS to propagate** until then — you can still add records in advance.

The records that point the domain at your REMMU site are managed by REMMU and can't be edited or deleted here. The DNS Records card isn't available for domains you connected yourself — manage those at your own registrar.

## 🔧 Managing Domains

From **Settings → Domain**, you can see all configured domains:

| Status                   | Meaning                                                                   |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Active**               | Domain is live and accessible                                             |
| **Pending Verification** | DNS set up but not yet verified                                           |
| **Failed**               | DNS check failed — check your CNAME (subdomain) or A record (root domain) |

### Removing a Domain

Click the delete icon next to any domain to remove it. Members accessing the old URL will see an error — make sure to communicate the change before removing.

**Important:** You cannot remove the primary domain — set another as primary first.

## ⚙️ Which Domain Do Members Use?

Share the join link or login link with your members. It will use your primary domain. If you haven't set up a custom domain, share the subdomain URL.
