REMMU sends automatic reminders to members for key events — payments, attendance, and package expiry. These run in the background without any manual action needed.

## 💳 Payment Reminders

### Email Payment Reminders

REMMU can automatically email guardians (or students if no guardian is linked) when they have unpaid invoices. Two scheduling modes work independently or together:

**Days after invoice** — send a reminder a configurable number of days after the invoice is created (if still unpaid), with an option to repeat every few days until paid.

**Fixed days of the month** — send reminders on specific calendar dates each month to all members with any outstanding invoices, regardless of when those invoices were created.

- **Channel:** Email (free, unlimited)
- **Configure at:** Settings → Notifications → Email Notifications

### WhatsApp Payment Reminders

If WhatsApp is enabled, payment reminders are also sent via WhatsApp in addition to email — improving the chance the member sees them.

- **Channel:** WhatsApp to member or guardian phone
- **Schedule:** Pick multiple days of the month using the calendar picker in Settings → Notifications
- **Quota:** Counts toward your monthly WhatsApp message allowance; stops if quota runs out

### Push Notification Payment Reminders

Members with the REMMU mobile app installed also receive a push notification alongside email reminders when they have unpaid invoices. Enabled by default, toggleable in Settings → Notifications → Push Notifications.

## 📅 Attendance Reminders

### Class today push notification

Members with the REMMU app receive a push notification on the morning of each class day reminding them they have a session today.

- **Channel:** Push notification (mobile app)
- **Enable at:** Settings → Notifications → Push Notifications → You have class today

### Admin reminder for uncompleted sessions

Admins and team members receive an email reminder when a class session is still marked **In Progress** well after the scheduled end time, so the relevant staff are reminded to complete it.

- **Channel:** Email
- **Recipient:** Admins and team members for the affected class

### Teaching today reminder (instructors)

Instructors receive a push notification and email shortly before each class they're assigned to teach.

- **Channel:** Push + email
- **Recipient:** Assigned instructor(s)
- **Enable at:** Settings → Notifications → **Instructor teaching-today reminder** (default off)
- **Coverage:** Includes ad-hoc, replacement, and rescheduled sessions — the reminder honours the actual session time, not the original schedule

### Attendance-marked push (for guardians / members)

When a student is marked **Present** or **Late**, a push notification is sent to the student and their guardians — useful for parents who want a real-time confirmation that their child made it to class.

- **Channel:** Push notification
- **Recipient:** Student's own account + linked guardians
- **Enable at:** Settings → Notifications → **Attendance marked** (default off)
- **Spam-guarded** — only fires on the *transition* into Present/Late, not on re-saves of the same status

## 📦 Package Expiry Reminders

When a student's session package is running low or nearing its expiry date, a reminder is sent prompting them to purchase a new package.

### Low Balance Reminder

Sent when a student's remaining sessions drop below a configurable threshold.

- **Trigger:** Session deducted and balance falls below threshold
- **Channel:** Email
- **Content:** Remaining sessions, link to purchase a new package

### Expiry Date Reminder

If a package has an expiry date, a reminder is sent a configurable number of days before it expires.

- **Channel:** Email
- **Content:** Expiry date, remaining sessions, purchase link

### Configuring Package Reminders

Go to **Settings → Notifications → Package Reminders** to set the low balance threshold, days before expiry, and whether reminders are enabled.

## ⚙️ Configuring All Reminders

All reminder settings are in one place: **Settings → Notifications**

From there you can enable or disable each reminder type, adjust timing, and choose channels (email vs WhatsApp).
